On the Budget

Republicans and some democrats as well, explain the Government finances by comparing them to a family's budget. In real life here is how that works. A family must have a job to have an income and based on that income lies the family's ability to meet its expenses and pay its debts. If the family manages to regularly make payments on its debts the family's credit score goes up and it is easier for companies to extend more credit for the family that has proved to be creditworthy.
Although over the last four decades in general, the Bush years in particular, the Government has seen its income reduced and, spite of this, it has always met its debt responsibilities: Thus its high rating credit.
Now, the family as well as the government Must have a job to have an income so the ability to meet and pay for expenses and debts can be met. However, if the head of the family is unemployed and with whatever money he or she has saved up likes to go out, get drunk, and spent all of his father's or previous Administration's success and savings, picks fights for which someone else has to pick up the tab for the damages... Then the family's budget goes up in smoke.
George Bush got us into the illicit invasion of a country, based on lies, and wars that have been fought with the blood of our sons and daughters - a significant number of which are the sons and daughters of immigrants or were undocumented immigrants themselves...

The cost of George Bush military adventures, fought at the same time he was reducing taxes for the wealthiest, is the main cause of the economic recession at home and of the good will decline of the United States abroad today.
Today, as we wake up from the economic nightmare inherited from the previous administration, we find ourselves holding the bill we have to pay for the Tax Party, 'bacanal', that George Bush threw for his wealthy 'job creators' buddies, for eight long years.
Now, as a country, while we are having an internal family argument to see what to do about the huge deficit we inherited, members of the Republican Tea Party want to pay for Bush's party, balance the budget and cut the deficit, on the backs of the most vulnerable members of society.

Seems to me that in the end , as a country, we are just as dysfunctional as any average, wealthy, American family and, according to Moody's and S&P, not as creditworthy as we once were.
